Egypt’s Processed Food Exports Rise to USD 2.43 Billion in Jan–Apr 2026
Egypt’s processed food exports maintained their positive momentum during the first four months of 2026, reaching around USD 2.43 billion from January to April, compared with USD 2.27 billion during the same period in 2025, recording a growth rate of 7.1%.
The figures reflect export performance during January–April of each respective year, not full-year export values. The data shows a steady upward trend in Egypt’s processed food exports over the past decade.
Exports increased from around USD 914 million during January–April 2016 to USD 951 million in the same period of 2017, then rose to USD 1.07 billion in 2018, USD 1.13 billion in 2019, and USD 1.17 billion in 2020, before climbing to USD 1.36 billion in 2021.
The sector continued its growth path in the following years, reaching USD 1.57 billion during January–April 2022 and USD 1.64 billion in the same period of 2023. Exports then jumped to USD 2.15 billion during January–April 2024, followed by USD 2.27 billion in 2025, before reaching USD 2.43 billion in 2026.
This represents an increase of around USD 161 million in the first four months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, highlighting the continued strength of external demand for Egyptian food products and the sector’s ability to sustain growth despite global trade and supply chain challenges.
The figures also indicate that Egypt’s processed food industry has become one of the country’s most resilient export sectors, with January–April export values growing by more than two and a half times between 2016 and 2026, supported by wider market access and the growing competitiveness of Egyptian food products.
